Double Poured Indefinite Chill Rolls |
|
These rolls have highly alloyed centrifuged shell as the working layer and a core of Grey Iron or SG Iron depending upon the mill requirements. The shell micro structure consists of carbide and graphite in a matrix that systematically progresses from a mixture of pearlite and bainite in the softer grades through bainite to martensite in the harder grades. The wear resistance prop" is controlled by proper dispersion of graphite and the carbides. These rolls have following advantages compared to statically cast double poured rolls Average hardness drop is less. An uniform compact shell thickness than statically cast rolls. Lower alloy content in the core imparting higher toughness. |
